Dear diary: Are we too tech savvy to own a typewriter?

I have this fascination with vintage things, whether it is clothing, tea sets, anything really. The weird thing about me is I appreciate a lot of vintage stuff but at the same time I would never wear vintage clothing well if it was a hat then I would ( my love of hats, a whole different story)

Everytime I would shop with my best friend she would take me to these awesome vintage shops that she knew of and we would spend AGES in the store and just get to know the owner and the history of their accessories and whatever they had in there.

Okay so we all know by now I like writing. And computers yayyy! You’ve been so great to me except when this wireless keyboard spazzes out on me and viruses etc etc, but what I’ve wanted for a really long time now is a typewriter. You know? The really old school ones and where you have to move the paper and not make a mistake because then you’ve got to start again. I LOVE!  There’s something so personal about writing out a letter to somebody on a typewriter as opposed to a computer because then you just email it, whereas a typewriter, you can send it to someone by snail mail or really personalize it as a part of a gift to somebody.

I don’t know guys I just really want one and start clicking away on it.

Maybe something like this..

LOVE this typewriter!

Dear diary: My tea set just broke!

So can somebody please explain to me why is it that when you buy something that is really delicate and very important to you, the more EXTRA special care you give it, it just breaks and it always seems to have that higher chance of breaking than something you bought for 2 dollars that you can easily replace.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s about my new tea set I just bought. And hey guys when did I buy this tea set you ask? 3 days ago, yep THREE DAYS AGO!

I took it out to wash and serve some people I had over today, it was really good, I served them tea and juice, it was awesome, I loved it! Bringing out my new tea set was just so much fun.
So they left and I went to wash it, the first plate I picked up, put detergent on it and as I went to scrub it down it slipped so far out of my hand and smashed into 2 pieces in the sink.

From this:

To this:

This is how my heart feels like right now, broken in two!

Super bummed right now, I have 6 cups with 5 saucers, this tea party is going to be so uncoordinated.

I think the most depressing part is that I only had it for 3 days and the first time I took it out to use it, I broke it and it came in a set so I can’t replace the saucer and you know what this is why I don’t do the dishes.

FEEL: De Lorenzo Elements extinguish thermal protection spray, and yep it's about my hair.. again.

I haven’t done a review in a while come to think of it, seriously I am obsessed with this high tea party, it’s all I ever talk about. I apologise.

So when I have massive family get togethers or see friends that I haven’t seen in a while, they always say something about my hair. If you don’t know I got it cut about a month ago now and my hair has already grown like 3 cm already, it’s ridiculous. I went from long to just above my shoulders and then I got a wavy perm to give it a bit more style.

I run pretty much everyday in the sun and I don’t like wearing hats when I’m running because of the sweat and the heat on my head. Gross

On top of that, I use my hair straightener just to curl areas that need more of a wavy definition, like the fringe so I can flick it back and make it look very 50’s.

I wanted to dye my hair an ash blonde a while back because I felt it was time for a change and I was so sick of my hair colour, but thanks to the sun, it’s turning a light brown and that’s what I get all the time from people, your hair is so light what did you do to it, and to that I reply, nothing, it’s from running in the sun.

I never thought it was a problem, I think my hair can pretty much withstand a lot, but my cousin the other day commented and said how dry it looked which was pretty upsetting to hear. I definitely think the perm took a toll on my hair as well with all the chemicals and yeah.

So I picked up De Lorenzo Elements extinguish thermal protection spray.
De Lorenzo Elements Extinguish thermal protection spray,
I picked this up for $19.95, shop around.

I just needed something to protect my hair from the heat of the sun and my hair straightener.

To be very honest and truthful with all of you, I really don’t see too much of a difference when I use any heat protection spray. Not to say that it doesn’t work, I definitely still want to use it. Just because I don’t feel a difference doesn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t working.

I used a different brand prior to this one and I think they all work pretty much the same. My hair isn’t as damaged maybe that’s why I don’t really see too much happening you could say.

However in saying that, my hair is definitely a lot more smoother and silkier feeling if that helps anybody, definitely spray this one before I blow dry my hair (which is rarely) or before I go out for a run in the sun or before I use my hair straightener.

And just for all you curious ones out there to give this review a bit more it lists that:

-        Conditioning properties smooth and control unruly hair
-        Contains certified organic ingredients
-        Provides natural UV protection (that’s why I got it)
-        It’s also  natural based, ph balanced and the packaging is recyclable
-        And of course recommended by hairdressers and not tested on animals, which is always a plus.

Until next post, we’ll see what I blog about it, maybe it’ll be about tea.

The tea diaries: Look at my super cute new tea set!

I used to be such an impulse buyer (that's when I didn't care about saving), but now I do so I'm really you know, do I really need this and if I get it, will I use it and when will I use it and is it something I would use more than once, is it worth it, do I need it right now, oh you well budgeted people out there, I wish I was you.

But regardless, I needed something up for my tea diaries series and I'm so excited about this high tea I'm going to throw towards the end of the year, so yesterday I bought a super cute tea set.

Every week I would go into that store and just stay there and wonder should I get it now or later. I always decided on later, so when I went in yesterday I was disappointed that not that it was sold out but it was the last little tea set left and there was one teacup missing and some teacups were chipped and it just wasn't worth it, I mean who wants to buy cracked/ chipped crockery that isn't even a complete set. It was super cute, it was mini sized with little saucers, come to think of it I should have taken a photo, so silly. I was just so upset.

I thought the mini teacups would be a good addition to the set out of my high tea, I want to have a variety of teas on the table, so the mini tea cups could be used as little testers and if they liked it, they could pour themselves a full cup.

Instead I went to a different store and found a similar tea set normal sized you could say for the same price at $20 well she discounted it for me, because nobody was really buying it, umm why would you not? sometimes my logic just doesn't match others.
Rose and gold coloured tea set, this is the box it came in

I'm really happy with this one it's definitely something I would pull out if I had guests over and most of my friends are lovers of tea, well at least I force them to drink it because it's just so yum! And I bake them muffins so they have to have some tea with that. English breakfast all the way, with milk.

So I took some photos, (like my set up?) just need to wash these now and put them in a cupboard somewhere.

6 saucers and 6 teacups, do you guys like my setup?

I'm loving the detailing on the saucer and teacup and the colours make it look so elegant.

Next move, I need to get a teapot or two or three or I don't know we'll see.

True or False? it's about nails

Is it true that the reason we wear nail polish isn’t just for the pretty colours and designs but we’re actually trying to hide the fact that our nails have dirt and grime under them?

I have no idea where this came from, it’s been years since I spoke to this particular girl at school about it and I don’t know I saw something to do with nails and it just triggered my memory (ever get that?)

Anyway, we were talking about nail polish and I told her I love it, it’s so pretty and she agreed, but then she told me she only wore it because dirt would get under her nails and she wouldn’t be bothered cleaning it, so she covered it up with nail polish, genius right. Uhhh no! First of all GROSS! And second EWW!

I didn’t believe her because I like keeping things neat and tidy, I’m just a very clean freak you could say, my friends say paranoid I say they lie, but whatever.

It wasn’t until one day she was taking off her nail polish and it was pretty gross. You know how you get that dirt under your nails sometimes, it was all under her nails and that’s when it hit me that she wasn’t lying that the only reason she wore nail polish was to cover that up.

Since then I haven’t met anyone that has said that to me, I just found that interesting and let’s leave it at that.
