Brush, floss, rinse and repeat?

I really want to know how many people out there still floss their teeth. I for one didn’t use to until my dentist told me off and found that I had cavities. I remember being little and having the dentist come to school and talk to us about brushing our teeth, flossing and just how to keep them healthy. But how many people floss? Brushing my teeth, yes. Rinsing my mouth with mouthwash, yes. But flossing?

I never knew that brushing your teeth consisted of only being about 25% clean and that’s why you need to floss and use mouthwash after. I’ve definitely learnt my lesson as I went to the dentist the other day to get 3 cavities filled in, she basically numbed the left side of my mouth, and it was the funniest feeling ever. It was so numb and she told me that it would last 2 hours, she lied, it lasted 5. She also told me that you couldn’t see it, you could only feel it. She lied again. I met up with a friend afterwards and she started laughing at me because she said it looked like I just had botox, because one side of my lip was so puffy and the other side wasn’t.

Although it didn’t hurt, I’m just going to brush, floss and rinse with mouthwash so next time I go there I can be like, “SEE……. CLEAN!”

Do you still floss? Let me know and leave a comment.

Missha The Style Dual Eye tip in Violet

If you haven’t heard of Missha, it’s a Korean brand that focuses on providing everything from makeup to skincare and fragrances. The Dual Eye tip is great for those quick touch ups where you’re eyeliner has smudged or eyeshadow is barely visible anymore. On one end you have your eyeliner which does contain glitter so not the best to use on your waterline and on the other your eyeshadow that has a sponge tip applicator where you simply dip into the cap and apply the shadow to the eyes, this is especially great for dabbing the shimmer on the inner corner of your eyes.

Smell

Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift

I love when celebrities create their own fragrances and when smelling Wonderstruck I found it to be very warm at heart. It made me feel calm. Although it does have a sort of fruity smell to it, the vanilla essence is quite endearing. You can definitely smell a hint of sandalwood which I felt went really nicely with the other smells that made up this fragrance.

Feel

NAK dry klean dry shampoo

You just got back from work, you’re already running late and your hair feels so gross that you need to wash it, but if you do you’ll never make it out of the house.
Dry shampoos are great for all you busy bees out there. I’ve heard all the fuss about dry shampoos so I tried it myself and ladies, it works! It saves you heaps of time as it is a weightless powder simply sprayed onto the roots of your hair and leaves your scalp feeling clean, refreshed and oil free. Formulated with Apricot Kernel Oil, it helps to soften and moisturize your hair and also absorbs any excess oil.

To cut or not to cut

There’s something about getting your hair done at a salon which makes your hair look instantly amazing! No matter what it is from getting a blow dry to getting your hair coloured, it just looks great. Now I know not everyone’s salon experience is what I make it to be, but when that hairdresser nails what you wanted and you can’t help but flick that hair of yours, that’s a great feeling.

I used to be terrified of getting my hair cut, because trust me I’ve had some of the worst haircuts since I was little. They would just be too short or too thin or uneven or just plain bad! You name it, I had it. I finally gave up and you know what, hair is hair, it grows, I know, but nobody wants to walk out feeling silly and constantly worrying about the way they look.

Getting sick of my long hair, I went to get it cut the other day, now I have bangs and I really like it, the only thing is it looks nothing like the way I had it after I got it done. Which really upsets me, I get all excited when I get my haircut and the fact that it’s not as sleek or not as straight or perfectly set bugs me a little.

Everytime I walk in to get my hair cut now, I no longer have any expectations that my hair will look good after. So it definitely is a surprise when I actually like it.

Bad hair experience? Tell me about it and leave a comment.

SEE

Shiseido The Makeup Smoothing Veil

Primers really help to give that extra coverage for a flawless look. With the smoothing veil I found that it not only helped to cover the little fine lines I had around my eyes but also slightly brightened and moisturized my skin. The only negative was that it left a white to grey film on my skin, even though I made sure I used a lesser amount than what I used before and ensuring it was rubbed deep into my skin. Better to use this as a primer underneath foundation rather by itself as a moisturizer or brightening cream.

SMELL

Baby Bench colonia in Cotton Candy

Made in the Philippines, this has got to be the cutest range of colognes I’ve seen yet. Not too sure if any of you are familiar with Baby Bench but it’s basically a scented cologne where you can just rub onto your skin which leaves you feeling fresh and clean or do what I do and transfer it into a small empty spray bottle and voila perfume to go.  It comes in 6 different smells and my favourite has got to be Cotton Candy. That and I literally bought a 100mL of this product for $2.80. Bargain or what?

FEEL

So Fresh Makeup Wipes in Green Tea

Ever wondered what the best way was to take off all that makeup?
So Fresh makeup wipes! I love this product, I use it for myself and all my clients and believe it or not I purchased this for $2 at K-mart. With one towlette I was able to take off a full face of makeup including eyeshadow and mascara and we all know how hard mascara is to take off without an actual eye makeup remover. It left my skin feeling clean, soft and refreshed, I was really surprised with how much it took off and it really did leave my skin feeling So Fresh!

past product of the month

One of my favourite products this month that I've been constantly using would have to be Benefit erase paste.

Since the day I got it, I couldn't wait to try it and it has definitely done wonders for all those blemishes and imperfections I get.

It's also been great in hiding those dark circles under my eyes and reducing the puffiness and you can thank the creamy consistency of the concealer for that one.

It comes in 3 shades and for a good price as well, considering you only need a minimal amount when applying it.
A product definitely worth trying out!

What a brow thing to do

Have you ever looked at a friend’s face and thought, something’s different. You’re not too sure what it is, but they look different? I’ve always been one to spot the changes my friends make to themselves, all the way from their hair to the type of clothing they wear.

One thing that can completely change the way your face looks will surprise you. Believe it or not having the correct brow shape can do wonders for your overall look.  Think about it, when you see somebody with eyebrows that are very thin, highly arched like they have two semicircles sitting on top of their browbone, you stand back in amazement because you can’t focus on any other feature but their brows. They could have the most amazing eyes you have ever seen but your attention is drawn to those semicircles above.

We all have different face shapes and that’s why it’s important to get your brows done by somebody who knows what they’re doing, we can’t all have EXACTLY the same brow shape as our faces aren’t structured the same way. It might sound simple but we all make mistakes, even I do, I’ve had my fair share of overplucked brows with a very high arch.

Having the correct brow helps to frame your eyes and give your face definition, shaping them in a particular way such as having a very high arch right in the middle of the eye, can make you appear angry when you’re not. After all our eyebrows help us to show our expression like when we’re shocked or worried.

SEE

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation
I love how mousse foundation sits on the skin. It definitely does give you that effortless look like you’ve applied nothing at all, however out of all foundation types, this one doesn’t work for me. I find mousse although easy to apply, comes off fairly quickly especially if you’re skin is oily or if you’re using this on those sweaty, hot summer days. Not ideal for touch ups as the mousse just comes off and you might find build up of the product around your face in all the wrong places.

SMELL

Escada Marine groove
To all the lovers of fruit and flowers, this perfume is for you! My mum actually impulse purchased this whilst she was in France and may I say good work mum. It has a very summery feel to it and it’s just one of those smells that linger in the air.  When you smell it you turn around to find the source because it’s that sweet. It’s almost like a lolly you can never eat.

FEEL

Aveda Foot Relief
Ever had one of those days where you just want to rest your feet after a long and tired day? I’ve had plenty. I’m a big fan of using this after a long day, it really helps to nourish your feet and leave them feeling fresh as it also gently exfoliates the skin and revitalizes it as well. It has a mixed smell ranging from a little bit of soothing lavender to a little kick of rosemary and peppermint.

SEE

RIMMEL LONDON bronzing compact powder in medium matte

Bronzers are great especially for contouring! I’m not a big fan of using bronzer as an all over powder on the face but for defining those cheekbones this product works a treat. That and it sits really nicely on fair to medium skin tones. Just don’t forget to blend the edges.

SMELL

DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom

This is my everyday perfume at the moment.  Just one spray leaves you smelling so sweet like roses and jasmine. It has a very light feel to it, very feminine. That and the bottle is cute too, like a little apple.

FEEL

Pod liquid manicure puraceuticals

I recently got given this product as a gift, and I LOVE IT! If you don’t know what it is, it basically exfoliates and cleanses your hands. It doesn’t smell as great but it definitely leaves your hands feeling moisturized, nourished and really soft.

A little goes a long way

Like most girls, I LOVE makeup, I love the idea of waking up in the morning and applying that little bit of mascara or eyeliner just to brighten up my eyes. But have the pressures of today and society itself made girls feel that insecure about themselves where I see makeup applied where I just want to wipe it all off?

Although I love makeup, it’s important to not forget who you really are. There are arguments about the REAL meaning of makeup, some argue that it simply enhances the features you already have, others disagree and argue makeup is the art of transforming and creating a character. Whilst I agree with both arguments, it depends on the look you are trying to aim for. But why is it then that girls apply foundation so heavily when they are just going out to the shops? Is it insecurity or the constant pressure of feeling you need that much makeup to be perfect?

I understand the need for makeup, the feeling you get when you’re all made up and ready for a night out, you find a new found confidence, you feel beautiful. However, makeup as apart of your everyday life shouldn’t be about transforming the way you look to a point where you forget who you are, rather enhancing what you already have and remembering that not everybody is the same and nobody is perfect.
